McGregor Food and Spirits

Not to be confused with “McGregor Cafe”, which is another one of my favorite places, this restaurant is located on McGregor just after you turn right at the Gladiolus intersection (15675 Mcgregor Blvd).  Tucked away on the end of a strip mall, the restaurant has an inviting entrance with outside tables and potted trees.  Inside [...]

MILK: ANOTHER VIEW

As i mentioned previously, the reviews for milk have not been monolithic in their approval. There have been a smattering of bad reviews, and a great deal more in the “flawed greatness” camp. I find myself in disagreement with either of those positions, not because I can vouch for the film’s greatness, but [...]

Harvey Milk Lives!

It was 30 years ago today that councilman Harvey Milk  and  mayor George Moscone were shot and killed by councilman Dan White in their offices in San Francisco  city  hall.  The biographical movie of the latter years of his life, “MILK”, goes into wide release this weekend.  Reviews and discussions of the film and [...]

We will be asking for submissions for [...]

Cinemark Boycott

If you’re one of those who prefers to patronize GLBT-friendly businesses and avoid businesses whose owners and management are obviously anti-GLBT, then you might want to avoid seeing movies at a Cinemark theater.
The CEO of Cinemark, Alan Stock, donated $9,999 to the “Yes on 8″ campaign in California.  You can go to this nifty tool [...]

Why We’re Here

November 15th, 2008 was a National Day of Protest, a web-based organized protest in cities around the country and around the world.  The protest was against the passage of several anti-gay ballot measures that enshrined discrimination in [several more] state constitutions, including California and Florida.
In Florida, there were protests in Miami, Fort Lauderdale, St. Petersburg, [...]
