If you’re one of those who prefers to patronize GLBT-friendly businesses and avoid businesses whose owners and management are obviously anti-GLBT, then you might want to avoid seeing movies at a Cinemark theater.
The CEO of Cinemark, Alan Stock, donated $9,999 to the “Yes on 8″ campaign in California. You can go to this nifty tool and search for “alan stock” and see his donation. There’s also an official boycott of Cinemark. The official boycott seems to be focused on the movie “Milk,” but I think I’ll be avoiding Cinemark for all my movie-going. I’m one who believes in voting with my dollars, because most, if not all, companies set policy based on their bottom lines.
Incidentally, we haven’t been able to find out where “Milk” will be playing in Southwest Florida. If you find a showing, please let us know in the comments.
