I don’t know about you, but I don’t ever remember the presidential inauguration being a “big deal”. In fact, I don’t think I’ve ever watched one on TV. This year however that’s not the case, as I received a continual flood of e-mails from the LGBA, echoing their excitement at being chosen as one of the bands to perform in the inauguration parade.
For those of you that don’t know, the LGBA (Lesbian and Gay Band Association) is an affiliation of marching and concert bands from around the US and the world. I’m a “charter” member of the Flamingo Freedom Band out of the Ft Lauderdale area (one of the things I miss most about that area after moving here to Lee County). Several members of the band took the trip to Washington for the parade.
