Hey there. I’m looking for help from the GLBT community in Fort Myers. I am a new Director of Children’s Religious Education at The Unitarian Universalist Church of Fort Myers and we’re doing a gay pride worship service this Sunday. The kids’ book King and King was recommended to me as a source for my piece in the service called “A Story for All Ages.” I can’t find it anywhere! Does anyone in this community know where I can find one?

Getting to Key West is even easier from Ft Myers, using the Key West Express. It’s a little pricey and security is a pain in the butt coming out of Key West, but it’s a great trip!

Look for specials at events in Lee County, such as MangoMania in July. We got a two-for-one coupon at this event a couple of years ago.

Most of the gay guest houses are a relatively quick walk from the dock – check a map and distances before choosing a cab. Unless of course you’ve got a million bags…

OUT is a federation of local organizations created to serve the needs of local organizations and to connect local groups so we can share information and resources and work closer together. This will actually also make it easier for local groups to also work together with state organizations like Equality Florida, and with national organizations.

Thanks for publicizing Organizations United Together (OUT).

To answer your question, since OUT is made up of local organizations, you won’t see Equality Florida, ACLU of Florida, NOW, NGLTF, HRC, Lambda Legal, GLAAD, PFLAG, GLSEN, etc. on the list of OUT’s affiliated organizations.

That having been said, we welcome local groups with local self- governance of state, national and international organizations. Florida’s LGBT community needs all the help we can get!

So, who from Fort Myers will be attending our meeting in Orlando on January 24?

hey chris,

yeah, i noticed that dynamic, and boy i was pleased when all of a sudden you were ON with a strong voice and clear ideas. in fact i found the afternoon totally exhilerating. of course some of that might have been the gallons of really good coffee i couldn’t stop myself from drinking and the insanely sugary offerings our hosts and new friends supplied us with. (never again, i swear)

when i motored home after saying good bye the umpteenth time, the hair on my scalp was literally at attention, and i couldn’t figure out which was the root (pun not intended) cause.

it didn’t seem logical that all 6 of us locals were on the same wavelength from get go. that just never happens.

i look forward to working with you, if only to give your husband a rest from my constant questions.
